与多数设备淘汰计划类似，亚马逊并未完全封杀2012年后的设备。受影响机型仍可继续阅读，只是无法访问Kindle商店。这对部分用户或许影响有限：既存书籍可正常阅读，新内容也可手动添加。但无法通过Libby等图书馆应用借阅电子书，这将影响大量用户的使用习惯。若设备需解除注册或恢复出厂设置，情况会更棘手——亚马逊明确表示"届时将无法重新注册或使用这些设备"。
